PRIVACY
Asked to give a single word answer as to why Americans, Canadians and many European
citizens "go offshore", the answer would be privacy. People are not free to pursue
their business and other financial dreams and goals in their country of residence
and maintain any semblance of privacy.
It's not just the tax authorities, although they are the most obvious villains.
In the U.S. every bank is under legal mandate to report various transactions of their
banking clients. Under the guise of fighting crime, the government has intruded
into the financial lives of its citizenry beyond any measure that the Founding
Fathers would have ever countenanced.
Whether it is the arena of asset acquisition and protection, income stream
protection, records retention and protection or other areas of life, thousands
are flocking "offshore" each year in search of a little privacy. Confidential
credit card accounts have gained in popularity, but U.S. citizens must be wary not
to break the law on reporting foreign financial accounts. Foreign brokerage
accounts have also become very popular, but unless properly structured may constitute
illegal tax evasion. The U.S. Department of Justice is not backing away from its plans
to use a program named "Carnivore" to intercept and read millions of private emails
that pass over the Internet. Wire transfers of funds are routinely reported to both
the Federal Reserve and the tax authorities.
Many of the services offered by Prudential and other offshore service providers
have privacy as the underlying and driving force. People want their business to be
their business. They want to be left alone. They want to be able to plan and care
for their loved ones without interference from either government or private interests.
Prudential uses the highest algorithm based encryption technology to make secure
and private communications possible. A long time believer in PGP technology, pioneered
by Phil Zimmerman from MIT, we offer the opportunity to deliver and receive important
communications that cannot be intercepted and read. We maintain our records storage
in servers that are located in tax haven jurisdictions and which servers do not have
direct Internet access. No one can hack into our records archives because there is
no Internet portal. Your privacy and confidentiality is our mission.
