OUR LOCATION
NEVIS:
While Prudential Trustees, Ltd. maintains its administrative and executive
offices in the Bahamas, it remains a Nevis company. It has a registered office
in Nevis, and remains subject to Nevis law. Because of close relationship with
law firms, banks, accounting and other trustee companies organized in Nevis, the
company is positioned to redomicile there instantly if legal changes in the Bahamas
should ever dictate such a strategy. Nevis is half of the wholly independent
Federation of St. Kitts & Nevis. Nevis has its own legislative chambers and has
enacted some of the most progressive financial center legislation on the planet.
It was for this reason and the demonstrated commitment of the government to preserve
its status as a privacy haven with respect to financial dealings, that Nevis was
chosen as the organizational venue for the Trustee Company.
THE BAHAMAS:
Prudential Trustees, Ltd. has maintained a "one-company-two nation" strategy by
organizing in Nevis and maintaining its primary offices in the Bahamas. We have, at
the same time maintained a "one-company-one nation-two -island" strategy" regarding
our offices in the Bahamas. As discussed under Our Staff
we maintain our Administrative/Clerical Offices in Freeport, Bahama, and our
Executive Offices in Nassau, Bahamas. Of all the available jurisdictions in the
world, why was the Bahamas the venue of choice?
Unlike most of the tax-haven jurisdictions in the warm waters of the Caribbean
and West Indies, the nation of the Bahamas has been a totally independent nation
since 1973. The Queen of England is not the head of state. The country is not ruled
by a Governor appointed in London. The policies of the country are set in the
legislative chambers located in Nassau, not some European capital. This is not the
case with such well-known jurisdictions as the Cayman Islands, the British Virgin
Islands, the Turks & Caicos Islands, Antigua, Anguilla, and others. In the past few
years, there has been much rumbling and even over the coercion from the industrialized
nations such as the U.S., Canada and the nations of the new European Union. They are
seeking to force the post-colonial nations that have become tax-havens, to amend
their protective laws. Because Great Britain has the power to simply order its
dependencies to fall in line, they are far more susceptible to this sort of pressure.
To date the Bahamas has held the line on bank privacy and fiduciary privacy with the
exception of situations involving drug proceeds and illegal money-laundering. Since
Prudential Trustees, Ltd. does not deal with drug dealers or money-launderers, we
take no exception to the position taken by the Bahamas in this regard.
In addition to very favorable laws, the Bahamas is among the most developed and
mature offshore financial centers. The representation of large international banks,
trustee companies, accounting firms, financial consulting firms, securities brokerage
houses, law firms and other support professionals is impressive. The country is easily
accessible because of the substantial tourist trade. Telecommunications are reliable.
Economic and social infrastructure is in place. For those who prefer to visit the land
where their offshore strategy is implemented will find the amenities satisfactory (not
the case in a number of other island-based jurisdictions.) The principals of
Prudential Trustees, Ltd. could have chosen to locate anywhere in the world. They
chose the Bahamas only after careful consideration of many factors.
